Just a quick update as its all been a bit quiet on the domestic race front since the end of last season.

Scot Adam who rode the 1098s 'BigBike' at the last meeting of the year at Rockingham in 2009 will be taking up the cudgels on her, this time for the full season. The Supertwin class will be running with the GP1 class & the twins are now able to double score (if they are quick enough) if they are placed in the top 15 of the GP1 class. Alan has put a lot of work into Big-Bike over the winter, essentially doing a complete rebuild from the engine upwards topped by fresh paint job done by Steve Joy at Apache-customs. Scot is champing at the bit to get the season underway.

Alex Heaton joins the team to ride 'Tango', our Ducati Monster 800ie in the GP2 class (was known previously as Junior Powerbikes). Alex aged 18, is already known at Thundersport having enjoyed a good season in 2008 giving our bike a very hard run for his money on several occasions that year coming 4th overall. However, in 2009 he was dogged by mechanical failure (and subsequent finances) during much of the season, meaning that he didnt attend a number of the meetings tho he still managed to claw an overall 5th in the championship. Alex started his race career in Mini-motos aged 10 and hasnt looked back since he won 11 championships from 1999 - 2002; taking the best Brit in the European championships in Italy. Prior to 2008, Alex competed successfully on a Honda RS125, notably taking the New Era Championship in 2006 and also competing in selected British rounds in 2007.
Tango is currently undergoing a complete refresh for the coming season.

Testing: The team will be out testing over the weekend of 20th/21st February at Mallory Park - a trackday on the Saturday there & then the Thundersport GB 1st official test day on the Sunday. Please do pop along and come & say hi to us if you are free that weekend.

Racing: The 1st race meeting wil be held over the weekend 12th - 13th march at Mallory Park.

DECEMBER 2009: Alan & Charlotte Knight
would like to say a HUGE well done to Sam Coventry for riding 'Tango' our Ducati Monster 800 to 2nd place in the 2009  Junior Powerbike Championship. Sam now aged 16, has shown maturity well beyond his age and has ridden successfully to get many podiums this season. Thank you Sam!

We'd also like to thank John & Vicky Coventryfor giving Sam their full support this year - and for joining the team so enthusiastically - its been a pleasure to have you 'on board'.

We couldn't have done this season without our wonderful friend Nick Boustedwho has spannered at all the Thundersport meetings with us, often working till late at night alongside Alan to ensure the bikes went out the next day.

Finally, thanks also to Scot Adam for riding the 1098s around at Rockingham for the final round and giving us all a huge thrill with the hard racing he did - bringing home 2 podium trophies out of the 3 races for the GP1/Supertwins. We are just sorry that the manifold breaking towards the end of the superpole race when you had been sitting in 2nd place (10th over all) for so long, prevented you from completing that race.

2009 is the 5th season that the team were competing Ducati's in road racing classes.

For 2009 we had some changes to the team, though we were still competing with the well organised road race club - Thundersport GB - now going into its 2nd year.

Sam Coventry joined the team to ride in the Junior Powerbike class on the aircooled 800 monster, stepping up from the Superteen class he competed in during 2008.

Clinton De Tarnowsky moved up to ride our 1098S, having finished 2nd overall in the Junior Powerbike class in 2008. This was a new move for the team, having only ever previously run aircooled Ducati's.At the Brands Hatch round in August 2009 following a hefty crash after the chequered flag on the 1st day, Clint decided that he was no longer able to ride for the team due to lack of finances to effect any repairs from this or previous crashes.

Alan & Charlotte Knight continued to run the team, which couldn't be competing without the help of magnificent sponsors who once again have dug deep to get the bikes out there.

Nick Bousted once again wielded spanners and the like, though this time for the whole season with AK.

Sams parents John & Vicky also took an active part in the team, apart from being part sponsors for Sam!

As you can see from the dates at the bottom of this page, there is a very good spread once again of tracks to compete at - including racing at the Moto GP meeting with both bikes.
