Welcome to the Knight Road Race Team website
This year in 2010 the Team continue to race with the promoter Thundersport GB for the 3rd year in succession. Scot & Alex join Alan & Charlotte Knight to race the distinctive orange and purple Ducati's across the country in the well organised race series. Thundersport GB has every round covered by TV camera's which is then shown on Motors TV the following week.
Scot Adam who rode the 1098s - 'BigBike' at the last meeting of the year at Rockingham in 2009 will be taking up the cudgels on her, this time for the full season. The Supertwin class will be running with the GP1 class & the twins are now able to double score (if they are quick enough) if they are placed in the top 15 of the GP1 class. Alan has put a lot of work into Big-Bike over the winter, essentially doing a complete rebuild from the engine upwards topped by fresh paint job done by Steve Joy at Apache-customs. Scot is champing at the bit to get the season underway.
Alex Heaton joins the team to ride 'Tango', our Ducati Monster 800ie in the GP2 class (was known previously as Junior Powerbikes). Alex aged 18, is already known at Thundersport having enjoyed a good season in 2008 giving our bike a very hard run for his money on several occasions that year coming 4th overall. However, in 2009 he was dogged by mechanical failure (and subsequent finances) during much of the season, meaning that he didnt attend a number of the meetings tho he still managed to claw an overall 5th in the championship. Alex started his race career in Mini-motos aged 10 and hasnt looked back since he won 11 championships from 1999 - 2002; taking the best Brit in the European championships in Italy. Prior to 2008, Alex competed successfully on a Honda RS125, notably taking the New Era Championship in 2006 and also competing in selected British rounds in 2007.
Tango has just undergone a complete refresh for the coming season.
Testing: The team were out testing over the weekend of 20th/21st February at Mallory Park - a trackday on the Saturday there & then the Thundersport GB 1st official test day on the Sunday.
Unfortunately, due to the weather (see photo to right!) the Sunday was cancelled.
Racing: The 1st race meeting wil be held over the weekend 12th - 13th March at Mallory Park.
The Team and riders are still looking for some sponsorship for this season for development, so if you, your company, or anyone you know who might be interested, please do get in contact with us.
